Root canal treatment
- root filling
The development of illness
The tooth root treatment
is justified in three cases:
1. Tooth decay of large extent,
which affects the dental pulp and inflammation
may occur.
2. Due to over filling or tooth decay the tooth
dies. The necroses suffered teeth does not have
blood circulation, the blood can not transport
the bacteria from the tooth, so those can multiply
in the periodontium (tooth bed), in the bone and
can be the reason of an inflammation. This process
results a developed focus, inflammatory teeth,
which are especially insidious, because it can
be the reason and also maintain inflammatory process
in other areas of the body (.e.g. patchy hair
loss, eczema, urology, arthritis’s).
3. When making a crown a large part of the tooth
has to be grinded.
The symptoms: violent pain when consuming sweets
and cold things - in daytime dull, at night unbearable
pain, - throbbing pain, tense feeling around the
tooth, - bite on sensitivity, - swelled up face
Tasks preceding the intervention
In all cases there is a thorough
dental examination and X -ray preceding the interference.
In addition the patient receives information from
his dentist about the planned intervention, anaesthesia,
used materials and the possible complications.
It is important that the patient should eat before
the dental treatment, because after the anaesthetic
injection, he/she can not eat until the numbness
holds (about 3-4 hours).
The root treatment
The intervention starts with
a local anaesthetic lidocain injection. The dentist
reveals the root channels with sterile needles,
removes the nerves running here, meanwhile the
patient rinses with a disinfection agent. The
dentist carefully pays attention, when he reaches
the end of the root channel. After the exploration
of all channels, follow the over rinsing and drying
follows. The reason to fill the root channels
is of hermetic sealing. In majority of the cases,
the intervention can be done simultaneously. Except
the necroses tooth, because this time the dentist
puts medicine into the root channel for a week,
than the patient receives a temporary filling,
reducing the number of bacteria. The final filling
takes place at the next appointment.
Complications after a root
filling
Following the treatment the root
filled tooth is maybe sensitive for several days.
Since the blood circulation is ceased in the root
treated teeth, they dry easily out and become
fragile. Therefore, it is suggested to apply crowns
on the root treated teeth.
