Dental filling
- Aesthetic filling
Development of the illness
It can’t be emphasised enough,
how important the regular tooth brushing is, as
food remains sticking to the teeth surface, where
bacteria start to break it down. The acids developed
during such processes are damaging the tooth enamel;
even the soft dentin layer and dental pulp can
also be injured. This is the tooth decay process,
which begins with discolouring of the tooth enamel.
For the early stage only dental inspection can
shed light on it. At a later stage the patient
will have dull toothache and possibly discover
a black hole on it. If the patient visits the
dentist in time, the tooth can be saved with a
simple filling. Otherwise, only the root filling
is the solution.
Tasks preceding the treatment
In all cases a thorough dental
examination and X -ray precede the interference.
In addition the patient receives information from
the dentist about the planned intervention, anaesthesia,
used materials and the possible complications.
It is important that the patient should eat before
the dental treatment, because after the anaesthetic
injection, he/she can not eat until the numbness
holds (about 3-4 hours).
Making of an aesthetic filling
The interference is done with
a local anaesthetic lidocain injection. The dentist
cleans the decayed parts from the teeth with a
drill, than underlines the teeth preventing it
of post sensitivity. This way, between the filling
and the tooth becomes an “insulation”, so a “heat
bridge” can be eliminated. Next, the dentist places
a thin glue layer over the teeth surface, and
builds up the filling by layers. The layers are
lighted by an UV lamp having the filling material
hardened. The fillings surface is drilled to the
appropriate form. Finally, the finished surface
is being polished.
Complications after filling
Cold - warm -, and bite on sensitivity
might occur for maximum a week or two, which is
corrected by the dentist. The anaesthetic injection
point can also be sensitive for a day or two.
Due to coffee, tea, coke, smoking, different food
colouring, the filling and the teeth will be discoloured
by time.
